Keri Hilson is on the promo wheel this week. After co-hosting and premiering her new video 'Energy' this week on 106 & Park, the 25-year-old also put in an appearance on MTV's TRL:
Her pal/producer/collaborator Timbaland was also there to lend his support to Keri who is finally going official with her first ever solo project 'In A Perfect World...' (out on 23rd September). About time too. The singer has also announced her first tour dates as part of the Russ Parr Bus Tour 2008 starting July 28th in Washington, D.C.
Last night, Rihanna performed at the MTV Mobile Bang Concert held in Milan, Italy:
Rihanna was spotted shopping around in Milan. She shopped with fashion designer twins Dean & Dan Caten of Dsquared2 in Milan, Italy on Tuesday morning. 
Last September, the 20-year-old Barbadian beauty strutted the catwalk for DSquared2 during Milan Fashion Week.
She was seen on yet another shopping spree in Milan:
She also turned down the opportunity to pose for Playboy: "My mother would kill me if I posed nude. When I did that metallic body paint stuff for my (Umbrella) video, I didn't do it to show my body. I didn't do it for people to like me. I did it because it was a cool visual, unexpected, and it looked hot."
She added: "I have done a lot of photo shoots for magazines but it’s always great to be shot for a cover because you know that you are looked at as a fashion icon."
And check this; we are only half way through 2008 and already, Rihanna is 2008's Cover Girl of the year. The singer has amassed a collection of over 30 magazine covers including August's issue of In Style Magazine. Read more on that.

KERI HILSON: ENERGY [VIDEO PREMIERE].....
Keri Hilson FINALLY gets her own solo video. After making many cameo appearances (notably, in Timbaland's many adaptions, lol) Keri premiered her video for new single 'Energy' two hours ago on BET's 106 & Park, where she co-hosted:
In the Melina-directed video, Keri is seen getting hot and sweaty as she takes up boxing. The video was okay. The concept was cool but the video wasn't really anything to write home about. She looked cute I guess. Energy is the lead single from her forthcoming debut album In A Perfect World, set for a Sept 23rd release. As reported Keri co-hosted 106 & Park with Terence after Rosci walked out on Terence last week for repeatedly insulting her live on air. Tomorrow should be interesting. Will she be back? Or is their partnership over for good?

Keri Hilson will premiere her new video 'Energy' tonight on 106 & Park. Teyana will premiere her new single when she opens the Diesel spring/summer 09 beachwear show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim on July 17th in Miami. Her new single is called 'Move' and it was produced by Hit-Boy.
In the issue of Vegas, Mary shows her disdain towards American Idol artists: "Honestly, it’s not giving most of them a real chance to become an artist for the rest of their lives", she explains. "They are on national TV every night. They have automatic fame. All of the greatest artists had to struggle for their success".
I agree with her comment to an extent except for the last line. Just because someone auditioned for American Idol doesn't mean they didn't struggle. Appearing on a popular talent show, singing in front of over 30 million viewers and constantly having your singing abilities judged isn't easy either and takes a lot of guts and courage. As long as that artist is talented and they are marketed correctly, I don't see how they can't have a lasting career to those who got their record deals the good ole fashion way.

It was reported a while back that Keri Hilson's first single would be a track called Return The Flavor but it seems they went with her current single Energy instead. Return The Flavor is produced by Timbaland who also features on the song. Check out the snippet after the fold:
I'm not really sold on the song. The beat isn't that infectious and it pretty much sounds like all of Tim's recent stuff recycled to the tenth power. The song, which will also feature on Keri's forthcoming album In A Perfect World... (23rd September), is pretty lackluster. I am still looking forward to her album though despite the poor single choice. Her mixtape was hot and some of the songs on it could easily have been radio hits. Thanks NR and KELSI.

The video is being directed by director of the moment Melina. The video will have a female empowerment theme which I'm quite happy about because it fits the song. Energy is the first single from forthcoming debut album In A Perfect World which will drop on Sept 23rd.

Yesterday afternoon, your dearest Queen B was spotted getting her shop on in Los Angeles. She was seen in stores such as American Apparel and Neiman Marcus with her bodyguard in tow. She was also rocking her trademark Chanel bag:
Beyonce treated herself to shopping therapy whilst husband Jay-Z is overseas touring. But she looked annoyed and irritated and didn't look like she was enjoying her shopping trip like a girl should. Maybe she was camel sick or something. Or just plain tired because she was working her butt off with movies, recording a new album and rehearsing for next week's BET Awards. That girl has a work ethic like nobody's business.

Leona Lewis was seen taking a break from her hectic promotional schedule. She was seen this week partying it up with her close pal and fellow X-Factor contestant Ashley Mckenzie at Crystal Club in London:
The singer was sporting a hot pink dress and looked great. Leona arrived at the swanky London club just before midnight and stayed until just after 4am. Leona has also become a collaboration magnet for quite a few high profile artists. Diddy has expressed his desire to collaborate with Leona on his next album whilst Whitney Houston is also planning a duet with the 23-year-old chart topper. Leona has also broken many records with album Spirit and single Bleeding Love and now she's leaving her mark on YouTube. She has recieved millions of hits. The promo for her hit single Bleeding Love has entered the site's top ten most viewed videos of all time. She is also the only British artist to make it anywhere near the top ten. At the last count, more than 55million people had watched the video for Leona's No1 single.

Keri Hilson premiered her brand new single 'Energy' on iTunes today. Many of you will remember Keri as the featured artist on Timbaland's smash hit 'The Way I Are' which got to no 1 in the UK last summer. Keri is also responsible for many hits including Britney Spears 'Gimme More', Omarion's 'Ice Box' and the Pussycat Doll's last hit 'Wait A Minute' as well as songwriting contributions to damn near every R&B/Pop artist in the game right now. Last week, I posted a snippet of Keri's new single, and now that the song was released today, you can check it out in full:

When I heard the snippet, I thought that the song was really repetitive. To me, it sounded like a bunch of other unoriginal songs mixed into one but upon hearing the full version, the song is very catchy and I'm liking the synthesized effect in the chorus. I feel the song definitely has the potential to become a radio hit. It's not all the way Urban and it also fits the Pop format very well. For many months, many of us doubted that Keri will release an album but I'm very happy for Keri, as well as excited that her album will finally get released. Her official release date for forthcoming album In A Perfect World is September 23rd. I'll definitely have that date marked in my calendar.

R&B chicks are getting ready to unveil their new music. Here, we have the official single covers for Cassie's 'Official Girl', Keri Hilson's 'Energy', Jennifer Hudson's 'Spotlight' and The Pussycat Doll's 'When I Grow Up':
Jennifer's song is written and co-produced by Ne-yo and produced by Stargate and will hit radio airwaves on June 9th via Arista Records and will be released digitally (iTunes) on June 10th. Coincidentally or maybe not, someone may have came over to Toya's World on May 5th and decided they liked the pic I used when her song All Dressed Up In Love, from the Sex & The City soundtrack leaked. I selected it from a photoshoot that was shot a while ago by Michael Thompson. I had no idea this was going to be the very pic used for her official lead single 'Spotlight'. Niiiiice. Her album is slated for a September release.
Jen has also spoken about the new album:
"Spotlight," which addresses insecurities within a relationship, is one of many stellar songs which showcases Hudson’s amazing powerhouse vocals. J. Hud worked with a whole list of writers and producers including Timbaland, Robin Thicke, The Underdogs, Diane Warren, Tricky Stewart and more.
"I'm beyond ecstatic about my new album," says Hudson. "I think people will be pleasantly surprised, because it shows a side of my work that no one has heard before. This album has a huge variety of sounds and one of my favorite songs is 'Spotlight' because it has this great infectious groove. Also, it looks like Energy WILL be Keri's lead single. As previously reported, the track will be released on iTunes on May 27th via Mosley Music/Interscope Records. The song was penned and produced by The Runawayz: Sam Watters, Wayne Wilkins, Louis Biancaniello & Rico Love – the same folks who produced and co-wriiten Leona Lewis's 'Take a Bow'. The cover art is taken from Keri's recent kick-ass Giuliano Bekor photoshoot.
The Pussycat Doll's new single 'When I Grow Up' will also be released on iTunes on May 27th via A&M/Interscope Records. The track, as we all know was produced by Rodney 'Darkchild' Jerkins and they will perform the song for the very first time later today on Jimmy Kimmel. Look out for it.

It sounds decent, but not first single material. The watery R&B/pop-tinged midtempo is reminding me too much of Jordin's song 'No Air' with Chris Brown, which is not really a good thing. Everything is sounding repetitive nowadays. That said, this is definitely a stepping stone to Keri finally putting out the album we've so long waited for.

Two spanking new tracks have leaked from Chris Brown's re-release Exclusive: The Forever Edition. The first track is called Last 2 Know and it is produced by Bryan Michael Cox. The second track is a collaboration called Superhuman and it features Keri Hilson:

Surprisingly I am feeling both songs especially the Keri joint. Both of them are nice R&B joints, and they're sounding a lot better than his current euro-pop/electro single Forever. The track with Keri sounds good, but it's about time Chris's voice started cracking. I mean he'll be 20 next year and he's sounding like the squeaky premature 15-year-old that he was when he first entered the scene, so it's weird hearing him sing about more mature issues and yet his voice is still, goo-goo ga-ga, lol. Anyway, enjoy the songs. Exclusive: The Forever Edition will be released on June 3rd.

Last night in Atlanta, Ciara co-hosted the Ludacris Foundation, an event that was done in honour to raise money for youth and HIV/AIDS research. The event was also attended by singer Fergie and producers Polow Da Don, Bryan Michael Cox (not pictured) and Dallas Austin:
Nice one, to both Ciara and Luda. When you become famous, it's good to see celebs using their star power to make a difference instead of spewing crap and starting beefs. Fiddy should take an example from his rival and alleged former lover.
These group certainly are a tightknit bunch as they were all spotted at the 11th Annual BMI Atlanta Unsigned Urban Showcase in Atlanta, GA on that very same day:

Jermaine has spoken about the secret wedding of Beyonce and Jay-Z claiming that the day after the wedding, he and Jay-Z went straight back into the studio to do some work on Usher's forthcoming album Here I Stand. Who goes back to work the next day after getting hitched? I see why Bey and Jay are attracted to each other - those are some hardworking motherfuckers. Then again, this is the reason why they're so damn powerful and successful. Can't hate on that at all. And I take it, we won't EVER get to see those wedding pics because they REFUSE to talk about it. Not even with their closest pals. Shame.

Yesterday, Alicia Keys appeared on BET’s 106 & Park where she cohosted the entire show with Rosci and Terrence. On the show, she premiered her brand new video Teenage Love Affair.
I was definitely feeling Alicia's whole get-up. Cute. The singer has been forced to cancel several shows due to vocal problems. She is currently being treated by a physician, and is expected to return to the stage on Saturday, April 26th at the Value City Arena at the Jerome Schottenstein Center in Columbus.
