Pre-BET Awards events continued on. Last night, Ashanti and her boyfriend Nelly attended the BET Debra Lee Pre-Party Dinner held at the Vibiana in Los Angeles, California:
For once, Ashanti finally gets her look right especially with the pink dress. But her false eyelashes are tooo much. It looks like giant spiders got stuck to her eye or something. Other than that, stunning! She and Nelly are such a good looking couple.
Last night, the 2008 ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Awards took place at the The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, CA. Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton was in attendance:

CHRISETTE MICHELE: 'LOVE IS YOU' [NEW VIDEO]....
Chrisette Michele premiered her new video 'Love Is You' this week, which is her latest new single from the 25-year-old's debut album I Am. The song was produced by John Legend and the video was directed by Mildred Delamota. Check it out:
I'm surprised Def Jam are still distributing video's from this project when it has sold little under 400K. Her album was released last year summer after debuting at number 29 on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling about 26,000 copies in its first week. Another good album that was ignored. I Am IS a pretty good album with its different musical styles (blues, jazz, soul & R&B). She is definitely my type of artist. The guy who plays her love interest is really cute by the way, and is the only thing that gives the vid some sort of appeal. Everything else was a snoozefest, but I dig the song with its chilled out melodies.

CELEB SPOTTINGS: R&B SINGERS OUT & ABOUT....
On Tuesday, May 13th, newlyweds Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon had lots of fun at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California where they had a wedding reception for their close family and friends:
Very corny, phoney and calculated in deed. So where do I start? In the second and third pics, Mariah is seen hugging Nick Cannon's mother and Grandfather. The love-struck actor had the whole park shut down after paying a mid-six figure sum so that he and Mariah could party with 100 friends and family. He also decorated the park in Mariah's latest theme colours by using pink and purple balloons along with her trademark butterflies. They also had a banner which read: 'Mariah and Nick: A Love Story'. Mimi's latest new album was playing throughout and each guest received a pink or red Superman cape as a gift (huh?). The loved-up couple were extremely playful as they kissed, cuddled and giggled like naughty teenagers on the rampage. They were seen enjoying the rides and heading back to their reception to greet guests.

I've never seen anything so staged in my whole entire life. Talk about overkill. A love story involves keeping most of those moments sacred without the watchful eye of the public and the media. There are just some stuff you keep to yourself. It's funny seeing Mariah get on that British journalist a couple of months ago for asking about her love life, and declaring her rights to preserve a personal relationship since her whole life has become a public spectacle. And look at her now, pimping out her marriage to Entertainment Tonight and anyone who'll show an ounce of interest. How quickly things change.
Yesterday, Beyonce and Jay-Z were were at Game 5 of the NBA Eastern Conference semi-final basketball playoff series between the Celtics and the Cavaliers:
Beyonce was also seen out in Manhattan. The chick surprisingly looked nice and trendy in her Khaki pants along with a grey woolly beanie and Chanel jacket. What a massive improvement from the disastrous outfit in yesterday's posting. However, I am seeing a pouch in Beyonce's stomach area. Either she's preggers or she decided to gauge on Popeyes chicken WITHOUT working out or, she's stopped working out completely. The mystery continues.
Cherish put in appearance on TRL this past Tuesday to promote their album The Truth which was released this week:

Usher and his wife Tameka were spotted departing the plush Via Veneto restaurant in Santa Monica last night in California:
They both looked smart for the swanky occasion, which was hosted by the Beckhams. UPDATE: It was a dinner party to celebrate Victoria Beckham's 34th birthday. Word in the blogosphere is that Tameka is pregnant with child no 2. If that's true, congrats to them. The dinner party was attended by many A-List celebs ranging from Diddy and on-off girlfriend Kim Porter, Will Smith and wife Jada, Tom Cruise and wife Katie Holmes, Gwen Stefani and partner Gavin and Eva Longoria just to name a few.
Yesterday, R&B songstress Ciara attended the Temple University Liacouras Center for the 2008 National Hip-Hop Team Vote Launch in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania:
She displayed lots of cleavage by donning a plunging neckline shirt which read VOTE IN 08 to support the occasion. The whole point of the national campaign is to mobilize the hip-hop generation of youth voters to ensure the largest youth voter turnout in American history on November 4, 2008. This year, they're hoping millions of 18-35 year olds will contribute towards the all-important cause.

CELEB SPOTTINGS: R&B SINGERS OUT & ABOUT....
Check out Janet Jackson departing a flight out of LAX airport in Los Angeles. Apparently, the 41-year-old singer was jetting to Japan's Narita International Airport earlier today. Janet has been quite isolated surrounding her latest album Discipline but she's decided to globe trot and promote that album - starting with Japan.
Her bodyguard looks just like Vin Diesel. I had to take a second look. The star looked more meatier than usual. You can see it in her face. I doubt she's pregs though. She looked good from a far but close up shots clearly isn't her best friend. When she gets older, her issues with food will catch up with her in the long run. The day will soon come where Janet regrets putting a plate of food and a yoyo neck in neck.
Beyonce was also spotted leaving her apartment at the Bloomberg building New York City on yesterday afternoon:
She was looking really pasty and the all-in-black outfit didn't do her any favours. I liked her Chanel handbag though. It looked like she was attending her husband Jay-Z's funeral than his Atlanta show. This is her second appearance since marrying her longtime beau last week Friday. I'm surprised she's not ducking and hiding like she has been in the last few candids. Marriage life must be pretty good for Ms Carter because she waved at the fans and the paps as she made her way. Mama Tina and Jay-Z were also seen leaving the Midtown Manhattan building but left at separate times. Apparently, they all made their way to Atlanta where Jay-Z was playing a concert with Mary J. Blige at Atlanta's Phillips Arena. And whilst the two of them are keeping tight-lipped about their wedding, Beyonce is speaking about it - only through her Bling Bling that is. The 26-year-old was spotted at the Atlanta show yesterday night with her pal Usher flashing a "whopping hunk of diamond" on her wedding ring finger.
So, I see Rihanna and her beau Chris Brown were up to their usual shenanigans again. The pair did nothing to cement their denial that they're an item. In fact, they ignited it even further when they were both spotted out and about in New York City last night, making a few stops together before heading back to the Chelsea hotel:

Rihanna was running wild all over New York City last night or so it appears. She was spotted out and about with best friend Melissa Forde before attending Melissa's surprise birthday party which took place at Star Lounge. But before the party took place she was spotted leaving a tattoo shop after touching up the tatt on her neck. Her beau Chris was also seen leaving the parlor and birthday party. This chick ought to be careful that her obsession with tattoo's doesn't get out of control. I personally think that milkyway tattoo with the stars on her back is just plain stupid and childish. But then, Chris who STILL has the kid in him can be blamed for that I suppose.

Check out Rihanna's brand new tattoo in the second picture on the top row. Seemed like a great party. Rihanna has been the attendance of many parties this year and we're only in April. As well as her own birthday party recently, she attended Pharrell's 35th birthday party last week and she'll be attending her man's birthday party next month on May 5th when Chris turns 19 (she also attended his 18th last year).
Justin Timberlake was spotted watching the game between the Memphis Tigers and the Kansas Jayhawks during the 2008 NCAA Men’s National Championship game at the Alamodome on April 7, 2008 in San Antonio, Texas:
Justin was there to support his hometown team the Memphis Tigers but left disappointed. Kansas won the game in overtime, 75-68, after Memphis squandered a 9 point lead with two minutes to go in regulation.

Ciara took time out from her busy schedule to attend the 5th Annual Hip-Hop Summit Action Network's Action Awards last night in New York City:
The pretty 'Promise' singer was there because she was actually honoured by the hip hop summit action network. The awards recognises the outstanding corporate and artistic contributions of hip-hop icons, as well as their dedication and commitment to community service and empowerment. The event was presented at an exclusive fundraising dinner.

Tiffany looked cute though. Real mature. I look forwards to whatever she hits us with when that new album drops.
