R&B power couple Chris Brown and Rihanna were spotted in New York City on a number of occasions this week. The first picture of Rihanna is when she was spotted arriving at the Nokia Theater on Tuesday to watch her fella play a concert for the Wrigley's Gum Launch:
On the same night, she was seen attending a private screening of Paramount Pictures' Tropic Thunder at the Regal Cinemas theater in New York City's Times Square (middle) and after his gig on that same day also, Chris and his bodyguard were seen scouring New York. I love it when a straight sexy man isn't afraid to show off his inner-pink side. Go Chris!
This past weekend, Solange performed at in the House of Blues Sunset strip:
Solange wore an Armani outfit during her performance. That would be because Giorgio Armani has announced that the 22-year-old is the new Armani Jeans global ambassador. Her sophomore album, SoL-AngeL and the Hadley St. Dreams, has a release date of August 26th, and will be followed by a worldwide tour beginning in late autumn. Here's the official statement: "Armani Jeans expresses my vision of a young, independent, casual lifestyle with a strong and cool fashion sensibility. Solange epitomizes this style perfectly and brings to it that swing so evident in her new single, 'I Decided'. Solange will begin her European press tour with a stop in London at the end of this month followed by Cannes in early August and during those events, she'll rock Armani. Good stuff.

Chilli has recently started her own fashion line designing her own set of handbags. Recently, she was spotted rocking a bag with her son's face who the singer calls the "only true model of the company".

Earlier this week, Amerie attended and co-hosted a party in Atlanta with the NFL's Deon Grant:
The singer performed throughout the night and chilled with Chilli of TLC fame and her new label mate Ne-yo. Now that Amerie is officially signed to Def Jam I expect to see a lot of her and Ne-yo at the same events in the coming months. Amerie is also using Atlanta as her main base for recording her new album I'm told, with producers such as Bryan Micheal Cox, Adonis, Wyldcard as well as Ne-yo. She also did some new work with producer No ID some weeks back.
Ashanti hit up the 2008 ESPY Awards Wednesday night in an interesting style of dress:

JT was trying to be the funny man that he thinks he is, but he should leave it to Mike Myers. Fergie got on stage with 24 actor Kiefer Sutherland. I can't wait for season 7 next year. They've resurrected Tony from the dead (who has gone over to the dark side it seems). This has never really happened before. Interesting. I wonder what the producers have up their sleeve this time.

Young superstar couple Chris Brown and Rihanna performed at the Louisiana Superdome during the 2008 Essence Music Festival yesterday (July 4th) in New Orleans:
Check out what Billboard had to say about Rihanna's new single 'Disturbia': Rihanna has scored 10 top 40 hits since her career launched in 2005. More staggering, the 20-year-old has four songs riding the Pop 100: top two ‘Take a Bow,’ Maroon 5 duet ‘If I Never See Your Face Again’ just entering the top 40, ‘Don’t Stop the Music’ inside the top 40 after 30 weeks—and now ‘Disturbia.’ It’s safe to say that Rihanna is the premier artist of the second half of the decade, with no signs of wear and tear. This latest is a sort of ‘Thriller’ for partygoers, with multilayered vocals cascading across Ri’s lower register, alongside fun scatting, a la ‘bum bum bi dum bum’ with co-writing (and background vocals) from the irrepressible Chris Brown. Rereleased albums with added cuts have become a tedious trend, but ‘Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded’ is actually worth its weight in platinum. In short order, Rihanna has become the trustworthy ‘it’ girl of our time.’ That said, I agree with Billboard. Riri has EARNED her right as the premier artist of the last five years. For once she looked cute. I'm still not that pressed about the hair though. Her lead single 'I Decided,' off of her forthcoming CD, SoL-AngeL and the Hadley St. Dreams has enjoyed the #1 spot on both Billboard’s 'Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Sales' chart and the 'Hot Dance Singles Sales' chart. It also landed at #2 on Billboard’s 'Hot Singles Sales' chart. SoL-AngeL and the Hadley St. Dreams, Solange’s sophomore set, will be released on Music World Entertainment/Geffen Records on August 26th.

Recently, Usher revisited the Mississippi Gulf Coast to continue the work he began in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina:
‘Usher’s New Look’ along with ’Trustmark National Bank’, ‘Visions of Hope’, and ‘Beau Rivage Resort and Casino’ announced a partnership to offer home replacement and renovation benefits to employees who owned homes that were destroyed significantly by the destructive hurricane. Through this year’s program, 80-100 families are expected to be supported through a housing initiative that provides homebuyer and financial education, training and counseling to displaced employees. The announcement took place during a kick-off rally before 1,500 Beau Rivage employees. Since its inception, ‘New Look’ has provided assistance to over 750 families throughout the New Orleans region with rent and utility assistance. The Rally was held at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi.
Usher ended his vist on the Gulf Coast at the Children’s Hospital of New Orleans, LA to meet with medical professionals including LSU Health Science Center and US Doctors for Africa, to better understand the health care crisis facing youth in New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Over the weekend, Teairra Mari hosted Jean Addicts Pre-BET Launch which took place in Los Angeles, CA:

USHER'S 'HERE I STAND' GETS TO NO 1 IN THE US & UK.....
Usher getting the no 1 album for 'Here I Stand' on both sides of the Atlantic seems to have blown up his egotistical head to gigantic proportions. UK urban mag RWD asked Usher what he thought about his ex-girlfriend's recent comments regarding her previous feelings for him. The ex-girlfriend in question is former TLC singer Chilli who stated that although she's not in love with him anymore, when they WERE together, she truly loved him. When Usher was asked what he thought of this, his response was: "I think it’s a little unrealistic, I’m married (laughs), I’m not a boy. It’s been three years past, you know? But we all have unrealistic goals too. Like shoot, I will always forever love Katie Holmes and Halle Berry. I don’t feel anyway about it. It does appear maybe to be a plug for something. She got a record coming or something?" What an idiot. And why does Chilli keep talking about it anyway? In nearly EVERY interview I've read, she keeps talking about it. If it's the interviewer that keeps bringing it up, she could at least say she is over it and that she'd like to keep it in the past. A part of me is thinking she isn't over it at all or she probably feels her previous connection with the superstar is the only thing that serves as little interest especially with the controversy surrounding his new wife (i.e. 'he left a beauty for a beast', 'she's ugly', 'she's a tranny and looks like a man', 'she's a thief', 'she made him fire his mama', 'she's an insecure bitch'....). After selling approximately 445K, 'Here I Stand' is no 1 on the Billboard Album Chart.

CELEB SPOTTINGS: R&B SINGERS OUT & ABOUT // TINY & RAPPER T.I WELCOME A BABY SON + KFC PROPOSITIONS RIHANNA....
Last night, Nick Cannon was hard at work playing DJ at an Operation Smile fund-raising event in New York City. Mariah Carey wasn't too far away as she attended the event to give her Deejaying hubby some support. Check out the two getting all cuddly after his gig came to an end:
Mariah looked great wearing five-inch heels and a fitted Ralph Lauren dress. Mariah was also at the event because she is an ambassador for Operation Smile, which provides surgery to children with cleft palates and other facial deformities. Once Nick had completed his deejaying duties he joined his wife in the VIP room where they immediately put their arms around each other and began whispering. Before long, the two slipped outside into a waiting SUV.
Rozonda 'Chilli' Thomas of TLC fame was spotted outside of the Waverly Inn in NYC on Wednesday night:
This chick looks EXACTLY how she did 17 years ago when TLC first hit the scene in 1992. Her and Stacy Dash are certainly the fountain of youth. Still hard to believe she's 38.

CHILLI: DUMB DUMB DUMB [NEW SONG]....
On Friday, former TLC lead singer Rozanda 'Chilli' Thomas premiered her new single Dumb Dumb Dumb on Atlanta's V103. The song was penned by Cristyle who also co-wrote Mariah's latest #1 smash Touch My Body, Teyana Taylor's Google Me, Tiffany Evans I'm Grown, Natasha Beddingfield's Angel as well as three other songs on Janet Jackson's latest album Discipline. CHILLI: DUMB DUMB DUMB
What the hell is this? The futuristic-inspired cut is mad lame and the title matches the song to a tee. Just like all the other songs that have leaked from Chilli in the past, this song is pretty laughable. I am beginning to think Chilli isn't cut out to become a solo artist and the REAL star of TLC was the late Lisa 'Lefteye' Lopes (R.I.P). It would also explain why she has yet to hold down a record deal. At one time, it was widely believed she was signed to Akon's Konvict label but she disputed that claim last year. Things must not have worked out because I remember two years ago when Akon said Chilli was going to shut down Britney and Beyonce, and both artists came and gone with their albums and Chilli still has yet to release hers. By the looks of things she might even be signed but as to whoever took the risk, that's a mystery. Let's just hope this is some type of teaser track because this just isn't cutting it.

CHILLI GRACES THE COVER OF SISTER 2 SISTER MAGAZINE....

As you've probably guessed, she talks about her ex Usher and wonders why people can't get over them. Well, maybe if you stopped talking about something that ended over 4 years ago, people will stop talking about it. And only Chilli can rock baby hair for 15 years straight and not get jaded for rocking an out of date look which was soooo mid nineties. I'm sure if any of us attempted this look, we wouldn't hear the last of it. This chick never ages and at 38, doesn't look a day over 21. And I'm not even counting on a new album which she's been recording before CD players came into existence. With a slew of non-impressionable leaked tracks and no album deal, the music path looks bleak but she's still got her beauty and tact and well, you gotta admire her.
